Algenuity has been invited to speak at "Sharpening our Tools: Algal Biology Toolbox" Workshop organised by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO) in San Diego from the 24th to 25th May 2016.

Dr Henry Taunt, a Senior Scientist at Algenuity, will give a presentation titled, "Getting the Fundamentals Right: The Role of Lab-scale Photobioreactors in the Algal Industry". The presentation will discuss issues encountered with traditional lab-scale algal cultivation, in particular reproducibility, diurnal modelling, and flexibility of conditions, and how Algenuity's Algem lab-scale photobioreactor addresses such problems.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy website, the purpose of the workshop is "to gather lead experts in the field of algal biology to discuss the following:
The current state of algal biological tools, including our understanding of algal biology and biochemistry, available molecular toolboxes, ‘omics databases, and other resources
Challenges to developing and applying a full suite of biology tools to improve algae performance and system robustness
Strategies to advance progress toward commercial algal biofuels."
