We are seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Technical Sales and Product Support within our commercial Algem photobioreactor products team.

The primary role for the successful individual will be to take on responsibility for our Algem family of specialised photobioreactors, through fielding customer enquiries and development of sales leads to installation, training and after-sales support. This will include travel to customer sites within the UK, Europe and Asia as well as working closely with our dedicated and experienced US agent. To support the product sales you will prepare marketing and conference materials, and develop applied case-studies of experimental data based upon your own use of the Algem photobioreactor family of products. You will have freedom to develop strategy around connecting our business opportunity with customer needs. You will be encouraged to present the Algem at UK and international conferences and trade shows to both academic and commercial customers. In addition, you will be encouraged to learn about all aspects of Algem family product manufacture and support services, liaising with relevant departments within the company. There will be an opportunity to grow into the role of Product Manager as well as contributing to the development of the Algenuity commercial strategy.

Position requirements:

  • A strong degree in biological sciences (B.Sc. minimum, M.Sc. preferred)
  • 2 years demonstrated minimum experience in sales/customer support for analytical scientific instruments;
  • Strong practical abilities including ability to problem solve and think actively at customer sites;
  • Outstanding communication skills both written and oral, including the presentation of scientific information to individual customers and at scientific meetings, as well as performing on-site customer demonstrations and training;
  • Strong computing skills including use of spreadsheets, presentation software and data analysis software
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken);
  • Ability to work within a team as well as to work independently on specific projects;
  • Ability to work to deadlines as well as to project deliverables;
  • Eligibility to live and work in the United Kingdom;
  • Ability to obtain a valid passport.

Desired (but not necessary):
  • Working practical knowledge of microalgal cultivation;
  • Bi or multi-lingual;
  • Electronics and/or mechanical assembly experience.

This is a full-time position, working at our dedicated site in Bedfordshire, within the United Kingdom’s Golden Triangle for Biotech. Our site benefits from easy access to Central London, Cambridge, and London Luton airport.
